PROPHET
Tower and Lab Facility
The tower sits about one foot west of the laboratory building. It is a guyed stairway-type tower manufactured by Upright, Inc. It is comprised of 16 aluminum tower sections; each section is 54 inches wide (on the north and south sides of the tower), 72 inches long (on the east and west sides) and 72 inches high with the exception of the section found at 94 feet which extends an additional two feet to the east and the top section (at 103 feet 5 inches) which extends an additional two feet to the west as well as two feet to the east. The top platform of the tower is at 103 feet 5 inches. Currently a glass manifold sheltered by a standard ham radio tower is attached to the north side. The manifold reaches 115 feet. An anemometer is positioned at 119.5 feet on the north side as well (see diagram of top of the tower August 1997 - not to scale). The tower sits on a 20 x 10 foot cement pad. There is a davit mounted on the north west corner of the tower, which can be used to raise or lower equipment being mounted or removed. It will handle up to 500 lbs.
