Best Pre-ISTP Magnetic Storm Events (On Basis of Solar Wind Coverage)
Solar Minimum (1984-1987)  Solar Maximum (1988-1992)  Solar Minimum (1993-1994)

This collection of information on magnetic storms (September 1984 to the present) is intended for use as a community scratch pad to select interesting space weather disturbances for post event analysis in coordinated campaigns. The information in the table is mostly preliminary, much of it unverified, and it is not intended for any uses other than for selecting interesting events for further study. Visit the data links under the table header for information on data usage and collaboration. Community event studies that are ongoing or completed are indicated in the table as well. Environmental effects that occurred during the storms (whether directly related to the storm activity or not) are indicated where this information is known. We hope to add information on the solar event triggering the solar wind transient and on forecast information & accuracy where possible.

Please send information to help fill out this guide, map out the interesting characteristics of each event and identify potential science questions that might be addressed in large community-wide efforts . Send comments to Janet Kozyra (jukozyra@engin.umich.edu)
